Is there a month Lombok does not dive?

No. The wet season makes the exposed south coast unreliable, but the North Gilis and Sekotong are sheltered and dive well all year.

When are the hammerheads at Belongas Bay?

June to October, most reliably in August and September - which is also when the surface conditions are hardest.

How warm is the water?

27 to 29°C year round. A 3mm suit is enough for most people; bring more if you feel the cold on repeat dives.

Does the season change the price?

Materially. May to October is peak for both rates and availability. Outside it the same vessel is noticeably cheaper.

The year

Four windows

Nothing here closes the island. It changes which grounds are comfortable and how far south you can push.

May – July

The season opening. Seas settle, visibility climbs, and the south becomes reachable. Rates start rising.
August – September

Peak. The most reliable hammerhead window at Belongas, and the roughest surface of the year on that coast.
October – November

The quiet sweet spot. Calm returns, hammerheads still possible early, and rates come off peak.
December – April

Wet season. The North Gilis and Sekotong still dive well - sheltered, shallow, and materially cheaper.

Water sits at 27 to 29°C throughout. A 3mm suit covers almost everyone.

August or September at Belongas Bay. Advanced divers only, and accept the swell.

For flat water

October and November. Calmest crossings of the year and the best all-round conditions.

For value

January to March. The Gilis and Sekotong are unaffected and the same vessel costs far less.

For a mixed group

May and June. Warm, calm, and everything shallow enough for the non-divers.

When to book

For dry-season dates on a named superyacht, months ahead. The best hulls are committed long before the season opens.

For a fast boat or a shoulder-season week, a few weeks is usually enough - and you will get a better rate for the same water.

If the trip exists because of the hammerheads, build the dates around June to October first and pick the vessel second.
