A Lombok dive trip on a private charter runs two to three guided dives a day from your own vessel, with certified guides, tanks and gear aboard, and the route set each morning by the conditions rather than a fixed schedule.

A day aboard
How a dive day runs
Nothing here is fixed. The crew reads the tide and the wind in the morning and the day is built from that.

First dive
Early, before the wind gets up and while the light is still low and flat.

Surface interval
Breakfast aboard while the vessel repositions for the second site.

Second dive
The main site of the day, chosen once the crew has seen the current.

Third, or not
A third dive, a snorkel, or a beach - the group decides after lunch.
Night dives run on request where the anchorage allows it.

Five areas, each with a different character and a different level requirement.
Gili Nanggu
Untouched coral gardens in shallow, largely current-free water.
Southwest Gilis
Gili Asahan and Gili Layar - good visibility and varied underwater terrain.
Sekotong
Around 19 sites. The macro ground: pygmy seahorses, frogfish, ghost pipefish.
Pink Beach
Shallow reef straight off the sand, and the best snorkelling on the route.
What level you need
Most of Lombok is comfortable for a certified Open Water diver. The Gilis and Sekotong are calm, shallow and forgiving, and guides will run a refresher on the first dive if it has been a while.
Belongas Bay in the south is the exception. The Magnet and The Cathedral sit in 20 to 40 metres with real current, and schooling hammerheads are the reason to go. Advanced Open Water is the minimum, and experience in current matters more than the card.
Non-divers are not a problem. Snorkelling gear is aboard, and most of the signature sites are shallow enough to see properly from the surface.

Fast boat
12 to 20m · up to 20 guests · day-use cabins. Day trips and quick runs to the Gilis.
Sailing yacht
15 to 30m · up to 14 guests · day and overnight cabins. Island-hopping at a slower pace.
Phinisi
30 to 45m · 10 to 14 guests · 5 to 7 cabins. The full liveaboard.
